Frank McDonald, Jr. was born in Tallahassee, Florida to the late Frank McDonald, Sr. and Leola Jackson McDonald. He is an only child. He was educated in the local schools, graduating high school from the “original” Lincoln High School, the Fighting Tigers. After a brief time at Southern University and the military, he returned to Florida A & M University to complete a Bachelor of Science and Master’s of Education in Health and Physical Education.
He has been happily married to the former
Juliette Langston for over 30 years, and they have two adult children, Erik and Monica.
Rev. McDonald has been employed by Florida A&M University for over 16 years. During this tenure, he has held several positions, including assistant and adjunct professor, assistant track coach, and fitness coordinator, Interim Assistant Director of Housing Facilities and currently as Resident Advisor. Prior to his employment at FAMU, he worked 8 years for the City of Tallahassee, Walker-Ford Community Center as assistant director. He holds certification in First Aid, CPR Instructor and Personal Fitness Trainer.
Rev. McDonald was called to the preaching ministry in 1999. Prior to this victorious day, he served faithfully in the church as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and usher at Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Elder Moses G. Miles, and from 1997-2000 under Reverend Kimball Thomas. He received his license under Rev. Thomas the same year he was called.
To further his knowledge and understanding of his calling and of God’s word, Rev. McDonald completed a Master’s of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry at
Smith Chapel Bible College (SCBC). He is also an associate professor at SCBC, and serves as the Vice President for the Northwest Region. Reverend McDonald and his wife are dedicated “
servants” of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
Under the spiritual leadership of Reverend Dr. R.B. Holmes, Jr., he continues to serve passionately in various capacities by assisting the Pastor as assigned in preaching at Noonday Prayer & Praise Services, Wednesday night Prayer Meeting and Bible Study, 7:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Worship Services. He and his wife are actively involved in the Married Couples Ministry, Married Couples Sunday Class, Collegiate Bible study, workshop/program presenter and participant. He also co-chairs with his wife the Prayer and Haiti Ministries. In addition to serving in his home church, he is available to preach/teach at other local and surrounding counties church services and special programs.
Last, but certainly not least, Rev. McDonald is a disciple and a “
Recruiter for Jesus Christ.”
